"Venice, Italy's gem" a Venice Travel Page by Cruiseone2003

I was on a 13night cruise that began in Civitavecchia (ROME), sailed around the boot, and then up the back side of Italy where we stopped in Venice for two days and one night.
I was told I shouldn't miss our arrival as we sailed into Venice because it's something to be seen. I have to agree, we arrived shortly after sunup so the entire city was cast in an orange glow which was very beautiful. Once we docked, we took a water taxi into town that dropped us off near St. Marks square where you MUST spend some time just soaking it Venice and enjoy the people watching while having a drink and a snack at one of several outdoor cafe's along the perimiter of the square and listening to music from the live bands.
