Fiaschetteria Toscana: Authentic Venetian Food

  • Restaurant Name: Ristorante Fiaschetteria Toscana

One of the top classic Venetian restaurants, Fiaschetteria Toscana offers a wide selection of local Venetian dishes (not Tuscan, as its name implies), particularly seafood varieties. Expect a typical brightly lit dining room, but great service and delicious cuisine. Like many fine restaurants in Venice, Fiaschetteria Toscana is rather pricey.

Note: Fiaschetteria Toscana is closed on Tuesdays and for lunch on Mondays.

Osteria/Ristorante da Fiore: Venetian Seafood Cuisine

  • Restaurant Name: Da Fiore

Considered one of the best Venetian restaurants, da Fiore serves local seafood cuisine. It is nicely tucked away in a narrow alley off an equally narrow canal in San Polo. The service is impeccable and the food is exquisite, enjoyed in a formal white tablecloth dining room. All of this luxury comes at a hefty price. Beware, it is expensive, but worth the extravagance. Please dress nicely!

Favorite Dish: Da Fiore is famous for its frittura mista di pesce e verdura (fried seafood & vegetables).

Ai Gondolieri: Venetian Specialties in Dorsoduro

  • Restaurant Name: Ai Gondolieri

Ai Gondolieri is one of Venice's most renowned restaurants. It has been around since the '40s, but it was only in 1987 that it became the restaurant it is now with fine cuisine. The menu contains typical Venetian specialties and is best known for its delicious risotto. Ai Gondolieri is located very close to the Guggenheim Museum in Dorsoduro, so consider eating here on the day you decide to visit the museum.

Note: the restaurant is closed on Tuesdays.

Wow, marvellous work, Momo :-)) You have amazing detail photos, especially the ones of Ca'd'Oro!! Do they allow photos inside some churches like Chiesa di S.M. dei Miracoli?

If I do Italy, I'm thinking of skipping Venice - but having second thoughts now...I think it will be sacrilege! Thanks for the tips - great coverage of sights.
