| Setti Fatma & The Atlas Mountains |
|
Cutting through the Atlas Mountains, la Vallée d'Ourika boasts some breathtaking scenery with lush forests and snow-capped mountains. The valley lies about 30 minutes south of Marrakech and the road up the valley ends at an altitude of about 1600 metres at a Berber village called Setti Fatma. Along the way, and in the village itself, there are numerous shops and markets selling locally made artefacts, as well as restaurants/cafés for lunch. Setti Fatma also has hiking trail leading to a gorgeous waterfall. A trip down the valley is highly recommended when staying in Marrakech for longer than two or three days. |

budapest8 Wed Oct 24, 2007 11:19 UTC EExcellent pics and tips of Setti Fatma ! Looks like a nice place to spend the winter to escape the cold weather. I always try to take a picture without the people knowing so not to cause a frucus, but sometimes it has to be done. :-) | angiebabe Sat Sep 1, 2007 05:29 UTC Nice to come across your pages today - Moroccos a bit of a passion!but sos many places!!all the best for more travels and more VT! | sachara Fri May 4, 2007 21:31 UTC Momo, your photography is great. I also liked my trip to the Ourika Valley. | barryg23 Wed Dec 13, 2006 22:12 UTC This sounds like a great day-trip from Marrakesh. The Atlas mountains look beautiful in your pictures. I'm making tentative plans to return to Morocco in March and hope to see some of the less touristy, more scenic places like this. |
