Nightlife Spot: Music Hall

One of the most original nightclubs I have ever been to. A cinema (from the '60s) was converted into a concert hall/nightclub. Comfortable loungy booths replaced the old theatre seats in the middle of the hall, while dinner tables occupy the bottom area facing the stage. Up top is a long bar for those looking to stand and dance. A very elegant crowd (of course) determined to have a fantastic time usually attends. Bands play live music on stage, an eclectic mix of "east meets west." Amazing atmosphere where dancing on tables is de rigueur after a certain hour -- lots of fun!

Dress Code: Trendy party attire. Go late... 11pm or later.
Directions: It is the downtown/Alhamra area. Ask your hotel for directions. A taxi/car is necessary. The doorman/bouncer can call you a taxi on your way out.

Nightlife Spot: Centrale

Centrale is an amazing bar/lounge. An old war damaged building was reinforced with steel and metal and converted into a trendy bar/restaurant. The upstairs, accessible only by lift, is a very long tube whose roof opens up for amazing views of Beirut at night. Food is served downstairs. Excellent music and a trendy crowd. Go there for a drink or two!

Nightlife Spot: Numerous bars available...

Rue Monot is a narrow one-way street down a slope in Achrafieh that has become the focal point of Beiruti nightlife. A large cluster of trendy bars and clubs are located side by side at the bottom half of the street towards downtown Beirut. A goodlooking fashionable young crowd gathers inside and outside the bars and a slow stream of cars runs through the street until the early hours on a typical Friday or Saturday night. Some well-known bars/lounges are Crystale and Shah, among many others.

Nightlife Spot: Buddha Bar

One of Beirut's many hot nightspots, Buddha Bar is no disappointment. It is part of the very successful exclusive chain of Buddha Bars, which began in Paris in the 90's. It is a restaurant, bar and lounge playing great lounge and ethnic music. A large Buddha statue dominates the centre of the dining room amid red velvet and silk surroundings. Go there for dinner or a late drink.

Nightlife Spot: Rue Gouraud

Rue Gouraud in Gemmayzé neighbourhood is full of bars and late night restaurants. This long narrow street has taken over rue Monot as the most popular hang out at night. The street stretches east from downtown Beirut and Saifi Village.
