Getting TO/AROUND: Gare de Lyon is one of several railway stations in Paris. It serves the south and southeastern routes, going to Lyon, Marseille and Nice, including the TGV. Trains to Switzerland and Italy also depart from here. The first Gare de Lyon was built around 1850, but was rebuilt twice there after. The existing structure dates from 1900 and was completed in time for the Exposition Universelle 1900. The station was meant as a showcase of Parisian grandeur. One of its impressive features is the clock tower, Tour de l'Horloge, which architecturally resembles Big Ben of London. Gare de Lyon is located at place Louis-Armand in the 12th arrondissment.
