Restaurant Name: Café de la Paix
Designed by Garnier, the architect of the Paris Opéra, Café de la Paix was therefore created to match the magnificence of the neighbouring theatre. During the Parisian Belle Epoque, Café de la Paix was the meeting spot for the Paris high and literary society. While it has held on to its décor and fame, it is now simply another Paris café in a busy neighbourhood. It is definitely worth a stop when visiting this neighbourhood.

Restaurant Name: le Fouquet's
Occupying a strategic corner at les Champs-Elysées and avenue Georges V, le Fouquet's has been a Paris icon since it opened its doors in 1899. It was recently renovated by the renowned Paris designer, Jacques Garcia. Le Fouquet's serves excellent French brasserie food during meal hours, otherwise, it is another café where wealthy Parisians and tourists linger to see and be seen. Beware, it is not cheap, but probably worth the experience.

Restaurant Name: l'Avenue
If you get exhausted while shopping at Nina Ricci, Christian Dior, or Escada on Paris' most chic Avenue Montaigne, a good rest stop would be l'Avenue. Decorated by none other than Paris' most famous Jacques Garcia, l'Avenue has quickly become the place to see and be seen. You could stop by for a café, un verre de vin, or a full repas (meal) during dining hours. It is strategically located at the corner of avenue Montaigne and rue François 1er.

Restaurant Name: le Relais Plaza
A Paris institution since the 1930s, le Relais Plaza is a showcase of Art Déco architecture. The restaurant is located at one of Paris' most famed hotels, the Plaza Athénée, and serves excellent brasserie food with an Italian influence. Mid-week lunches are packed with business lunches, while other times are busy with Paris' most elegant residents and visitors. All this comes at a high price... not a place for a budget traveller.

Restaurant Name: Chez Janou
A charming bistro in le Marais district, Chez Janou is a nice discovery. It is tucked away in the narrow alleys of the neighbourhood, serving mainly locals. The food is delicious French and Provençal bistro food, and the atmosphere is casual. Prices are very reasonable, especially when compared to the more tourist and high end areas of Paris.

Restaurant Name: le Relais de l'Entrecôte
"Quelle Cuisson?" the uniformed waitress asks as soon as you are seated at this unique Paris bistro with red leather chairs and mosaic floors. There is no menu for they only serve one thing: steak! She asks how you would like your steak cooked. The steak is served with a delicious secret sauce, and superceded by a salad (with walnuts) and followed by dessert (crème brulée, profiteroles) and coffee. Le Relais de l'Entrecôte has been a successful establishment in Paris for a long time, to the point that people queue up outside to eat during peak meal hours. It is definitely well worth the wait!

Restaurant Name: la Maison de l'Alsace
Late diners and early risers sit side-by-side at this brasserie/bar/café on avenue des Champs-Elysées. Open 24 hours, la Maison de l'Alsace is a great option for a late dinner for those out clubbing, or an early breakfast for the jet lagged among us. This brasserie is part of la Maison de l'Alsace, an establishment in charge of promoting tourism to l'Alsace, the region in eastern France. The brasserie itself serves many specialties from the region along with typical French brasserie food.

Restaurant Name: Le Carré des Vosges
A newcomer on the Paris dining scene, le Carré des Vosges has been a success. Its young chef, Marc Ouvray, had previously worked at top restaurants in Paris. His concept here is to offer fine French cuisine at more reasonable prices than top Michelin rated establishments, in an elegant setting. The food is delicious, and although it is still not super cheap, the prices are very reasonable when compared with the quality of the cuisine.
