Positive surprise!

We liked Angola so much!

Mukobale Tribe Angola
We liked Angola so much! Why? The people are very, very nice and full of energy. It’s a nice intercultural mixture. You have many people from Brazil and some Portuguese found their way back to the country. It is a very relaxing atmosphere when you sit on a market with some Angolans and Brazilians and drink a cold bottle of Cuca- or N’Gola-Beer.
There are landscapes hard to imagine. We never heard anything before, because there is like in Chad, CAR and the both Congo’s almost no tourism.
1m deep... Angola

The roads are the horror!

One thing is horror – the roads. Sometimes we had no idea how to manage the next 50 kilometers. Offroad is much easier than these former paved roads.
The small thing left up is our Ford Transit Bus!

Deathabyss at Tundavala

But they also have some really bad stories. At Tundavala, a fascinating valley close to LUBANGO is the place where the HORROR happened. The MPLA government party killed there in the early 90th their foes. They collected the UNITA sympathizers at Lubango with a big truck. At the 560m high wall they threw everybody down and killed within the last years almost all the witnesses.

Just in the north we would recommend to sleep at villages, because it is safer.
Deeper in the country we always camped wild in the fascinating wilderness. But:
Important warning: Take care with the mines! When you see tracks of cattle or other animals, you are quite safe. Also close to the villages the risk is smaller. Always ask locals for areas to avoid and never ever enter marked areas (Minas)! If you see a crater, just walk back in your tracks, as we did…

Visit the coast and enjoy eating fresh caught crayfish with the villagers.
