White Sands in the Western Sahara

White Sands in the Western Sahara after El Argoub
We spend a year traveling through the African continent. Western Sahara (occupied by Morocco) is our 2nd country on this fascinating continent. With a modified 2x4 Ford Transit, that we called HIDALGO, we faced the challenge of our lifetime. He was our home and transportation via Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Niger, Lac Chad, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo I & II Angola till Namibia. Central Africa and the both Congos have been the most challenging and interesting countries. Angola was the big positive surprise. Ok, they have the most heavy potholes roads in Africa but you are rewarded with lovely people and landscapes hard to imagine.
Military Guy Gisela Secret Service Guy

Polisario Visitor

Back to Western Sahara: We heared all those bad stories about the area, but we felt save and always camped wild. One day a strange guy in uniform visited us close to the Border of Mauritania. He had peaces from the Police, Military and the Postal Service on his uniform. Strange!?! We realized: A Polisario Fighter gave us a friendly visit. He tried to get some money but our Frenc became really bad... After a while he left *gggg*

Fisherman with Trucktires

Suddenly we saw some buoys on the sea. "What's that?"
We came closer and spend the night 40 m above a cliff. The next day we climbed down to the fishermen. They gave us so much fish.
"Why?", we asked.
"Because Allah was great and we caught so much. Take it!"
They live in poor tends but they have everything to be happy in their live. Achmed explained us that you have to be happy in your heart and that they don’t care about all that materialism. While drinking tea, listening to Elton John from an old radio, we had so much fun with them. Mohammed knotted a net and showed Rüdiger how to do it.Thanks for this wouderful day!
This page is new and we put in more stuff within the next weeks. Checkout the whole story at our homepage: http://www.weltleben.at and follow the instructions for the translation.
