Every fisherman will know his home from afar. The leftover paint from the boats will be used to paint over the fishermen's houses and slowly it became an unique feature of Burano. Anyone who wanted to buy a house in Burano is not allowed to repaint the house in other colours except the original one.

The little canals are key holes to the littlest yet the most beautiful part of Burano. It is just amazing that the house's colour will never be the same as its neighbour's. It is just a paradise for photographers. The law forbids the residents of the buildings to change its original colour.

Murano is to Glass and Burano is to Lace. You can see ladies on the streets working on the "tombolo" to make beautiful laces. Burano just magnify the beauty of laces.
