I stayed here for a week last (05) and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff are all really friendly. Anyone staying here should call in to the gift shop on the balcony, even if only for a chat. One of the lads that works there, Kaleb, is really sound. He's very helpful. He also works in the museum at the Karnak temple so he knows all the good places to go. He'll be able to give you plenty of tips and was always more than happy to answer any of our questions whenever we called in to him. He has some lovely stuff in his shop as well. Unlike some of the shops in the town you're guaranteed good quality and you never feel pressured to buy something (Ahmeds silver shop next door is worth a look too). I'd also recommend booking yourself on a hot air balloon (Theres a booking desk just inside the hotel lobby). After all, how many times do you get to go on a hot air balloon at sunrise over the valley of the kings? Its definitely worth it. The chinese restaurant is really nice too. Oh, and if you get the chance, go on a day trip to Cairo/Giza. We went on one organised by Budget Travel. It was a bit pricey, but definitely worth it in the end.
Unique Qualities: Great location, walking distance from Karnak Temple, and there is never a shortage of taxis outside the gate who are only too happy to bring you wherever you want to go :o) There is a great view across the nile as well. The views from the balconies in some rooms aren't great if you're unlucky enough to get one on the wrong side of the hotel.
