Crooked River Preserve - Clermont
Crooked River Preserve

Clermont is just outside Orlando (~1/2 hr - 1 hr drive) and is about the same distance to Disney World as Orlando (but probably a shorter drive when you account for traffic). It's certainly not a major tourist destination, but if you're in the area, there are some interesting sites worth checking out, including:

Citrus Tower - get a great view of the surrounds and learn about Florida's citrus industry.

Presidents Hall of Fame - everything you want to know about US presidents.

Lakeridge Winery - why not indulge in some wine tasting while you're here? Sample the unique grape varieties that are grown in Florida.

Lake Louisa State Park and Crooked River Preserve - both a short drive away. Have a picnic, go for a hike, do some birdwatching.

And, of course, treat yourself to some frozen custard at Ritter's on a hot, sunny Florida day!

    We are coming to Clermont in September 2012. We will be staying at The Summer Bay Resort. But of course, our main reason for coming to Florida from the UK is Disney! I have never been before and I can't wait! Clermont looks wonderful. :-)

    Quite an interesting little spot in Florida! I had never heard of it before, even though I've been to Orlando five or six times. The Citrus Tower looks impressive and it also looks hurricane proof!
