Hello I 47 and have spent the last 25 years living in North Yorkshire and bringing up two children. The youngest is now at university so I can start to plan my life! My resolution for 2006 is to get out there and have lots of new experiences. I have started by planning a charity challenge trek to Machu Pichu is September/October in aid of a chimpanzee sanctuary I have volunteered at in Northern Spain. This also gives me my second incentive - to get fit! The photo is of the South bay in Scarborough. |
Barcelona We have owned a boat for the last 20 years, but three years ago purchased a yacht in northern spain - north of Barcelona. It had not been looked after and has taken us all this time to make it fit to use. We have been flying over 4 to 6 times a year so have not had chance to travel anywhere else during the work. I have only day sailed so now need to get lots of practise and experience as my husbands dream is to sail to the caribbean and beyond when he retires in 7 years time! |
Pet Passport After buying the boat we made the hard decision not to replace our two elderly dogs when they passed away due to wanting to travel. We had not bargained for them passing on four weeks between each other. Life was unbearable but we stuck to the decision - for five weeks!!!!!!!!!!!! Forrest then came into our lives like a mini tornedo. He is a very naughty and manipulative cocker spaniel and we all love him to bits. He had been returned to his breeder after been ill treated. Its been a long hard struggle but he is now the best little dog you could wish for. He has his own pet passport and has travelled through France and down to Barcelona and onto the boat which he loves. He also loves going into the local kennels as he is spoilt to death - he gives his sorrowful Spaniel look and gets whatever he wants |
Working Holiday at Fundacion Mona Mona is the chimpanzee sanctuary I am hoping to raise money for by treking to Machu Picchu at the end of September with Charity Challenge. Its a sanctuary in Northern Spain on the outskirts of Girona. The photo is of NICO a very traumatised chimp who has been self harming and had to have fingers amputated. He was taken from his mother at a very young age and has never got over it. He now needs an operation to relieve pressure on his brain which will cost a lot money. All the chimps at mona have either been used in TV commercials, travelling circus's, for constant breeding or to entertain tourists. The majority were kept in terrible condition such as the back of a lorry container or chained up in a dog kennel. You can read all about them at www.mona-uk.org. |
