Go North!

by kejora - last update: Dec 30, 2005

This picture is the best one I had for explaining why I decided to even start this journey at the first place. The desire to step on my feet and stand proudly on Cape Soya, the most northern land of japan, was so strong to wake the almost-eternally-sleeping wanderer side of me up. The journey to reach this site has brought me to undergo wonderful and thrilling experiences, one warm reunion and several fateful encounters. Above all, this journey was so priceless for it successfully triggered me to keep the spirit of wandering within alive, at all times...

Anyway, I successfully made my dream come true, but it was a shame that due to the limited time, I only spent one night and a morning there. After capturing some moments at Soya Cape, we went straight to a hostel, had a dinner in an izakaya near the hostel, and curled under the blanket right after it. We left Wakkanai the next morning, after having some short cruise-around, missing trips to some islands nearby which seemed quite worth visiting.

The Trilingual Sign

You will find signs that written in Japanese, English, and Russian here, since there are a lot of Russians who come to Wakkanai for business, since Wakkanai is one of the nearest part of Japan form Russia. I wonder if they also have it in Niigata....

The Other Cape

At the other famous cape, Cape Noshappu, with my sputniks, Genta and Mio.
