This is a popular breakfast among Singaporeans. It is made by steaming grounded rice and eaten with chai por (chopped preserved radish). A cheap and healthy dish, if the chai por is not too oily. On the average five pieces cost between S$1.50 to S$2.00. Can be found at most food centres in the morning.
Singapore's ChinaTown is very colour and lively during the pre-lunar new year period. Lots of street stalls selling all kinds of goods and foodstuff for CNY. Visit my blogsite for more pictures www.bhunjati.blogspot.com
Singapore is a multi-racial society and so we have food from the various ethnic groups. One South Indian food I love to eat for breakfast is Apom. It is a simple and healthy dish. Make from rice flour and cooked in a mini wok it is usually eaten with brown sugar and grated fresh coconut. If you want to know where to find the best Apom in Singapore visit my blogsite or send me an email.
YU Sheng or Raw Fish is a traditional dish eaten during the Chinese New Year period by most Singaporeans. It signifies growth and prosperity. The entire family will toss the colourful vegetables and raw fish with chopsticks as high as possible
Fried Dumpling or Guo Tie is a favourite tim sum for the Chinese and Japanese. Inside each dumpling is minced meat and chopped chives. They are then lightly panfried. Before eating dip the dumpling into a plate of vineger and ginger. Good dumplings must be juicy.
Singapore is haven for those who love to eat kueh or cakes. There are many types of cakes available in Spore. Nyonya kueh is one of my favorite. There are more than 20 varieties of Nyonya kueh. You can visit my foodblog to find out more about Nyonya Kueh. www.bhunjati.blogspot.com or www.zeefood.tk
