We took an early morning ferry from Nice to Ajaccio - circa 4 hours. From Ajaccio, we hired a car and braved the mountain roads to our destination near PortoVecchio on the east coast.
My memories of Corsica are the beautiful beaches, particularly Palombaggio, and the rugged mountains - see tip on GR20. The other thing that intrigrued me was the Corsican language - For example, Portovecchio (Old Port) is a word which seems part Italian and French. |
| | Mountains Even in September the mountains can be very cold. The mountain roads are in general narrow and winding so take care whilst you're driving. |
