Interesting Restaurants and sights

To maximise the Eiffel Tower experience, have lunch in one of it's restaurants, LE JULES VERNE. This is on the second floor and has a dedicated elevator, so you'll also queue jump those waiting for the general elevator.Telephone 33 (0)1 45 55 61 44 for reservations. It's quite reasonably priced for lunch and whilst expensive in the evening, it's a great venue for that one special Parisian occasion. Alternatively, try Le Train Bleu on the first floor of the Gare de Lyon. Surpringly, a train station hosts one of the most characteristic, though expensive, restaurants in Paris. In my humble opinion it has the greatest decor of any restaurant in the world.

Great way to see the city but many never take that intended trip. Walk along the river to the Eiffel Tower, say from L'Opera, make the return trip by boat to the Latin Quarter.

Montparnasse

Take the bus from Place D'Opera across the river to Montparnasse, to discover a relatively unknown jewel in the Parisian crown.Gare Montparnasse is the main station to Britanny and as a result, Bretons settled near the station, bringing with them the famous creperies . Well worth spending a quiet lunchtime in one of the many in the district for crepes and cider, so different from the traditional Parisian fare. Of course, there's also le Tour Montparnasse.

Great Walks

There are so many great walks in Paris, it's difficult to know where to start. Amongst my favourite is the from Les Halles to the Bastille. Starting along Rue De Rivoli, proceed past Hotel De Villes until you come to Rue St Antoine. At this stage take Rue De Turennes to take you into Le Marais, old Paris at its best. At the first set of travel lights take a right which will take you into Place Des Vosges and the wonderful arcades where there are a multitude of Artists shops and exhibitions. Follow the old cobbled streets thereafter to arrive at Place de Bastille. This is probably the only disappointing aspect of the tour in that the Bastille no longer exists and indeed theh Opera House dominates. There are some excellent authentic French restaurants in this area, particularly around Rue St Antoine.
