Where the heck is Alencon? Alencon (pronounced A-lon-son) is the capital of the Orne department of Lower Normandy. It is our nearest big town despite the fact that we live in the Sarthe department, home of the famous Le Mans 24 Hours race. Alencon is a lovely little town on the Sarthe river with lots of medieval buildings and a bustling market twice a week. It is close to the A28 motorway which runs from Calais in the north to Bordeaux in the far south-west. |
