I have a camera in my bag - been there since November 2007 with pictures from dubai, oman, cairo, bahrain and poland. I promise I will get them out
Im safely located in Northern Ireland for the time being - have no holidays until July 2009 which will be MY HONEYMOON. Scary
I can however bring pictures and an update from Barcelona (see below), Belfast and I will begin typing up the pages from the places I have been....the pics will come eventually! |

| | ABOUT TRAVELLING I am addicted to 'ticking off countries'
This involves organising highly complicated train and bus manoeuvers in order to tick off as many places as possible.
This also therefore involves an aversion to returning to the same place twice. However, this is at times unavoidable - places like Turkey, Dubai, London, Paris must be frequented!
3) My addiction often means a sacrifice on quality of hotels, meals etc in order to have enough budget for another country, visa etc!
4) With a wedding approaching I have had to cut back on travels :( but I now have a new, relatively unexperienced travelling companion to show the wonders of fitting 12 countries into 3 weeks!
5) I MUST GET TO SEE YEMEN SOON |
THE PLACES I HAVE LIVED Where i have been lived, and the places I miss so much.
Summer 2005 and Summer 2006 -
Bellegarde, Nimes. I was an aupair to 4 'lively' children. I loved it! I hardly had any times off but when I did I drove around in a silver citroen which looked like a Delorien, plugged my ipod into the speakers and played AISHA by Cheb Khaled, got stalked by arabs.....
I miss the heat and dust of the Nimes countryside. I miss the town of Nimes and its narrow streets. I miss the distintly gypsy/spanish feel of the Carmargue....... Sept 2005-May 2006
Pirmasens, Arsch der Welt, Germany
I worked in a school teaching english for a year. Pirmasens was a dead end, a serious dead end. There had been things there, I am sure. There were american soldiers that kept the town afloat, but they were long gone. There were 7 hills and you always seemed to be walking UP ONE, no matter where you were!
2003-2008 ST ANDREWS
The quaint old town of St Andrews, the smallest place in the world where everyone knows everybody by some shape or form. If you dont know someone personally you can find out easilly by asking "Do you know the guy who wears the blue shorts and drinks in the Rasin" or "That girl with the big Oboe that drags it around town on a Thursday" easy
London - May 2008-Sept 2008
I lived there. I worked in the west end. I hated it! | | |
| | belfast Belfast is a good place to grow up, but you only realise how insular it is until you leave. And you also realise how petty they all are for fighting about religion, when you see so many completely different religions all over. I had a priviliged childhood, and actually never saw anything of the troubles except on the news. Now its all over i am really impressed with our city each time i come home from abroad. It has changed so much from even when i was in my early teens. When i arrived back from germany for christmas 2005 i couldn't believe how beautiful it looked as the sun set over the lagan. I remember the lagan before they rebuilt it. dead bodies anyone? and the shopping! its a shame im so broke after all my holidays. |
