Makati is the Center of Commerce in the Philippines. Perhaps other people would not want to admit this but needless to say, most if not all, of the big companies both local and multinational are based here. The biggest names in the Telecomm industry of the philippines are here - PLDT, Globe and Smart. The headquarters of the top banks are also here.

Makati has come a long way when in the past it used to be a swampy area. A number of the best and largest malls in the country can be found in the Ayala Center. Even if it seems to cater to the class A group, Makati also has its share of bargain centers for everyone.

The big names in the hotel industry are also here. The Peninsula Manila, Shangri-la Makati, Mandarin Oriental, Hotel Intercontinental, Manila Garden, New World Hotel, Oakwood - to name a few.

A wide variety of activities are available to residents, businessmen, employees and tourists.

Jane, Wonderful updates on changes since I lived there nearly 30 years ago. Makati has many new hotels, new restaurants. Your restaurant tips are great-Chocolate Bar sounds decadently enticing! I miss Kari Kari, lumpia, adobo & pancit, Salamat Po, Doug
