Most people visit Lopburi because of its monkeys and medieval ruins are not the main object of interest. The town is less visited than Ayuthaya, for example, which ruins are bigger aand which is located closer to Bangkok. But actually Lopburi ruins are older than ones in Ayuthaya. Lopburi is easy destination as a day trip from Bangkok or Ayuthaya. Few hours in Lopburi should be OK since the ruins are more or less close to each other.
