Moosehead Lake

Spent a couple of weeks here one August many moons ago now...camping by the lakeside at a site owned by a guy called Casy and his family (wonder if they're still there??). Was totally struck by the absolute calm and quiet here and spent happy days hiking, swimming in the lake (FREEZING even in Aug), canoeing around the lake and fighting the mozzies. Experienced a terrific thunderstorm one pitch black night and lost our tent to the winds (not so bad, my then boyfriend was a tall lad and our tent waaay too small for us...)so we had to move to a log cabin for the rest of the time which was fine by me... Saw mooooses and a bear and not so many other humans.. a real 'swallows and amazons' kind of place..hope it hasn't changed cos i'm going back one day.....
