Majorca....sun, sand, sea and sangria

by debtravers - last update: Oct 10, 2006

Trips with teenagers

View from the road to Cap de Formentor
Spent several happy times with kids here....they love it and so do I. Great beaches, ideal place to chill, drink a cold beer, listen to good music at our fave beach bar and watch the world parade by.... had several of those 'at this moment I am perfectly happy' feelings here....
one of the entrances to Alcudia

Not JUST sun, sand, sea & sangria...

Alcudia is a walled town in the north-east of the island and has been inhabited since the eighth century BC... Has a lively market on sunday mornings where you can grab a few bargains but get there early as it gets really busy... Nice views from walking around the ramparts.....on the way out of the town is a cemetery which is worth a look....I really like the peace of wandering around cemeteries and imagining the lives of all the people laid to rest there.....

Hairpin bends with my eyes shut....

The road from Puerta Pollenca to Cap de Formentor is narrow, windy and crowded with cars and buses but the views make it worthwhile...probably best to leave EARLY if you want to enjoy the ride without the other few hundred tourists....

Pros:"sunny days, cold beers, beautiful beaches, rugged mountains, i could go on...."
Cons:"Too many people!!!"
