We ended up staying here three times during our three weeks in Thailand... We booked originally online through www.asiarooms.com and paid £23 a night for a triple room. Our first room was in the older part and we had a stunning view over towards the Grand Palace. Nice sized room and comfy beds. A/c worked well as did the shower. Buffet breakfast was pretty good with plenty of choice of both western and asian food. On our second stay, we were given rooms in the newer wing and charged a higher rate so, if you're on a budget, ask for a room in the original part of the hotel. The pool was a really nice bonus - lovely to have a swim before going back out exploring at night. We found the staff really friendly and helpful. It was a great location too, Khaosan Rd being just around the corner, the river within walking distance, the Grand Palace a few minutes away too.
Unique Qualities: There is a desk by the front door where you can arrange rail tickets, excursions etc. We booked here for the overnight train to Chaing Mai and back to BKK, a hotel in Chaing Mai and also a 2 day jungle trek for an all-in price. ( We paid a very fair amount (can't remember exact price now, sorry!) after being warned against unscrupulous agents along Khaosan Rd). Was all arranged for us after we'd said what we wanted to do, all we had to do was pay and collect tickets from them. Lazy I know, but we had much more time to explore BKK!
