"17 Years Old" Brix67's Profile

The Army

I joined when I was 17, chose to go to West Germany (remember, before the wall came down). The only place I had been before this was Daytona Beach Florida for a school trip like in 11th grade. When I got to Germany it was different but I enjoyed it, things where new and my brain just wanted to absorb as much as possible. I saw others who wanted nothing more than to go home and just could not understand, you know mama's boy's. My friends and I traveled all over the country by train, busses, streetcars going to concerts and fest's.
When I finally got out of the army I moved back and lived there for another year or so, I liked it that much, before coming back home and going to school.

Wish I had More Money.

I have always tried to go to different places. I just have to many places I want to visit before I could repeat. Money is the problem. While I was in the army in Germany I would here german friends of mine speaking about going on holliday to Odessa Ukraine but we could not it was a communist country and was totally off limits to service members. I just always wanted to go there after that and 20 years and a few later I did in April 2005 for a week and still didn't get to see everything I wanted to. I'll be back.
Moscow, St. Petersburg so many places. Money. Flying sucks, 10, 11, 12 hours in a plane. I want someday to go to Bangkok, New Zealand and Australia but I would have to be medicated to be in an aircraft that long.
I could probably get by better with a private jet. Money.

Lived in Many Places

I have lived in many of the places listed, I don't know how it has just happened. Ellwood City, PA (born here)outside of Pittsburgh, Fort McClellan, Alabama(military) Darmstadt Germany (military/civilian), Watertown NY(Fort Drum)(military), Canton Ohio, Erie PA , Red Lion PA, York PA and I know I am forgeting a few right now.

Pictures

I wish I had more. I'll have to hunt and scan some but I never really had a camera with me because most of these places I spent some amount of time there and who walks around their hometown or place they live with a camera unless your a photographer. Plus while in the army it was better to blend in not stick out and I kind of feel that same way today especially with everything going on in the world, having a camera strapped around your neck is a dead givaway your not from around there. Plus I'm just lazy and don't ever want to carry one. 99% of my pictures are in my head, the one's I remember.
Just be careful people, be smart, do your homework(emergency numbers, etc) stay out of bad areas and don't have a camera hanging from your neck carry it in a bag or pocket.
