"Melaka City - The Historical City" Negeri Melaka by matjung

Most tourists who come to visit Malaysia probably just spend 4 or 5 hours in Melaka. It's a 2 hours ride by car from Kuala Lumpur. I stayed there for 3 days and don't regret any of them.

What I liked most about Melaka City was that it is one of the only and maybe best preserved former Colonial Town in the area.

Sometimes you don't feel like being in Asian at all.

The Golden Celebration

Melaka looked to me like a combination of Chinese, Indians and Malay.
There were not many non-asian tourists in this part of the world.

It's actually a nice place to be; should not be missed by you.

At the time I was there Malaysia had its Golden Celebration.
It was a great experience for me.
Lots of food stables where I could get a real taste of most Malaysia and speak to local from all over Malaysia.
Artists, musicans and dancers from all Malay states demonstrated their skills.

Straits of Malacca

Hint:
In the middle of this pic you see the "Floor de la Mar", a portuguese vessel that sank off the Melaka coast. Now it's the set for the Maritime Museum.

And in the background there are the Straits of Malacca.
