Dirty Dublin - Clean Dusseldorf It was at the end of February 2007 that I returned from Dublin (Ireland) to Dusseldorf (Germany) and settled down in Stockum. This is the district where the Messe Dusseldorf is located.
One of the first things I have noticed was, the cleanness of the streets. Not as tidy as in Japan, but clean. Nothing compared with the dirt in Dublin.
The 2nd thing I noticed was that Shopping Malls are closed on Sundays. Shops are usually opened Monday to Saturday from 9 to 6. Some department stores are opened until 8 or 9 pm. Expect reduced opening hours on Saturdays. Some are even closed during lunch break time. That is between 12 and 14. |
| | Dusseldorf is green to Dublin has a reputation for being a green city in the sense that they have lots of green parks. Like Stephen Green Park. Well, it is not the only green city. Dusseldorf has its fair share of green belts, too. |
| | Dusseldorf and Fashion Dusseldorf must be the German Capital of Fashion. Plenty of designers and labels have their shops here.
