Guangzhou or popularly known as Canton This city has a history of more than 2,800 years.Due to it's location on the Pearl River ,it has been a shipping port as early as the Western Han Dynasty. It's China southern gateway to the interiors and is a bustling port city for Arab and western nations since ancient times. The city is the provincial capital of Guangdong Province For more than 50 years the International & famous Commodities Trade fair has been held in Spring and Autumn, twice, annually attracting Viistorsw worldwide. Of China 's 4 famous cuisines,Guangzhou is the home of the famous Cantonese food known for for it's fresh, stir fried style, steamed fishes &seafoods and famous double broiled soups. Famous fruits ares the sweet and juicy Lychees in seasons from May to June and the Longans from july. |
Transportation Plenty of public buses ply the downtown routes. The buses are one man operated therefor normal fare is 2 yuan and no change is given. There is also the subway with 2 main lines, howeever more lines are being developed. Driving in the city can be horrendous due to limited parking ,traffic volume. Also bear in mind this is an old city hence the roads were built with little room to cope with the vechicle explosion. |
