I arrived in Amsterdam on a cold winter's day, it was raining and grey. Nevertheless, the weather didn't have a chance to ruin my little vacation to this land of tulips, windmills, Van Gogh and gezelligheid. First of all, I gotta say that despite the cold weather, the people in Amsterdam are warm & friendly. Plus, all of them can speak perfect English.

When I mentioned about going to Amsterdam, people will give me a silly look, laugh a little and suggest I try out something out of my norm e.g watch a sex show, smoke a joint or eat a space cake. Well, I didn't try any of them simply because there are other wonderful things to do in Amsterdam. For you info, the Dutch too dislike the idea that people assume Amsterdam to be such a place. I've enjoyed walks along the canal, the many museums and simply the gezelligheid attitude that I get just about anywhere.

Sure, you can't ignore some of the "in your face" things and activities but you also have to experience the wonders of this multi faceted city
