Trafalgar Square is one of the major attractions in central London and it costs nothing to come here. This was a popular place to feed the numerous number of pigeons (personally I don't enjoy having pigeon poo on me) but I didn't see them on my last trip in Sep 2006. In summer, it's a great place to hang out and eat ice-cream. I would stand beside the fountains to enjoy the cool sprays of water and take pictures by the bronze lions at the feet of Nelson's Column, situated in the middle of the square

This controversial sculpture called Alison Lapper Pregnant by Marc Quinn is on display in Trafalgar Square until April 2007. The sculpture features an English artist, Alison Lapper who was born without arms and truncated legs, naked and heavily pregnant. Personally, while I think it is an unsual subject for a marble scuplture, especially one on display in a public area, it also does break the stereotypical idea of how beauty is defined. As I read, she is a talented artist who overcame many obstacle to become the best she can be, and someone like that should be honored with such a monument

It was a wonderful Sunday afternoon when I came for a walk in St James Park. It was coming to the end of Sep and yet the weather was a warm 25 dec C. The park covers 23 hectares of land with a lake that attracts ducks & other migrating birds. Buckingham Palace and The Mall are just a short walk away It costs nothing to enter here, and you can bring your pets provided you pick up after them. It's not nice to have to step into doggie poo. There are some refreshment stalls where you can buy food, drinks & ice cream in the park. You can rent a sun deck or lie on the grass and enjoy the day

When you see the flag at full mast, that means the Queen is in residence. She didn't come out and wave at us outside or anything. However, we got the chance to watch the changing of the guards at 11.30hr In the summer, the palace organises special exhibitions that display the royal jewellery collection and other memorabilias of the queen. This year (2006), it was the the largest ever exhibition of Her Majesty’s evening dresses and personal jewellery to commemorate her 80th birthday. I didn't have enough time to see it, and the queue to get into the exhibition was so long

The National Gallery is situated next to Trafalgar Square and has one of the best collections of paintings in the world. The best part is that it cost me nothing to enter and enjoy these marvelous masterpieces. However, I gave £2 as a small contribution to support the gallery I was lucky when I was here in Sep 2006 because the gallery held a special exihibition called "Manet to Picasso" where famous paintings are displayed on loan, including Impressionist masterpieces by Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh and Cézanne. The most famous (I think) is Van Gogh's "Sunflowers". The exhibition will be displayed until May 2007
