Kuantan, located on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia and is the capital of Pahang state. It takes between 2 to 3 hours to drive from Kuala Lumpur, which makes it a popular vacation getaway for many city dwellers.
From Kuantan, you can drive to other beachside resorts in nearby Cherating or head north to Trengganu. The main city center has many shophouses and a big shopping mall, mostly for the locals.
