Kuala Lumpur - Capital of Malaysia

River Mouth of Mud

KL skyline
Kuala Lumpur or KL (Kay-El) which in Malay literally means "river mouth of mud" is the focal point of new Malaysia. While the city's past is still present in the evocative British colonial buildings of the Dataran Merdeka and the midnight lamps of the Petaling Street night market, that past is everywhere met with insistent reminders of KL's present and future.

The city's bustling streets, its shining, modern office towers, and its cosmopolitan air project an unbounded spirit of progress and symbolize Malaysia's unhesitating leap into the future. To some, this spirit seems to have been gained at the loss of ancient cultural traditions, but in many ways KL marks the continuation rather than the loss of Malaysia's rich past. Like Malacca five hundred years before, KL's commercial centre is a grand meeting place for merchants and travelers from all over the world.

PETRONAS Twin Towers

The PETRONAS Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur City Center is arguably the most recognizable icon of Kuala Lumpur. Standing with 88 floors, it held the "World's Tallest Building" title between 1998 to 2004, but I do think it is still the world's tallest "twin towers".

This area used to be a quieter neighborhood of offices & some hotels but since the advent of the towers, KLCC area is probably the hottest piece of real estate with tall condominium & office/shopping buildings mushrooming at every available space.

Pros:"Modern & affordable to visit"
Cons:"Awful traffic jams & worse when it rains"
In A Nutshell:"You'll never run out of things to do in KL"
