Welcome 2008!! | Noelle Parma in Piazza Michaelangelo, Florence |
Hello all, thanks for dropping by my page even though I haven't been updating it for months now. Let's say that I've got something like writers block plus I've been traveling quite a bit again.
From the Sudan to Milan, Florence & Parma and Christmas is Vienna. Then it's back to Malaysia and a side trip to Bali in the new year. I also need to update the look of my page so that will also take some time.
In the mean time, enjoy my current pages ......

Who is Borneogrrl? You may wonder why I call myself BorneoGrrl, that's exactly who I am. I come from Miri, a town ( now a city) located on the coast of Sarawak, Malaysia on the island of Borneo. If that sounds exotic, how about if I tell you that I'm from an indigenous tribe who long ago practiced head hunting. Well, that was long ago and I'm the squeamish type. Anyway, I'm just a small town girl with big dreams of discovering the world, and I'm starting to do that bit by bit. Starting with discovering the beauty and wonder of my country, Malaysia, and on to Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and now Africa. Now I'm in between Malaysia and Africa, and it is a fantastic journey. I'm really encouraged by the response I get from the fellow VT members who visited my pages, contacted me and rated my tips .... ahem, ahem. Thank you all and keep visiting because I do this specially for youThis is actually one of my favorite pictures. Believe it or not, I took this picture with my iPaq PDA. It was around 6.00 am and I had just arrived in Vienna on a 12-hour journey from Kuala Lumpur. Looking at the picture, I remembered how cold it was since I was about to experience my first winter. Plus, it's rare photograph of me in glasses which I don't wear anymore since I had lasik surgery in 2006

Of course, I'm sure to be jetting off to some places like Vienna, Dubai and Malaysia of course!

Places I Visited Here is a list some some of the places I've been to the past years besides residing in MIRI and KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia. I've actually been to more places but some of them I only spent a while there. 2007GREECE Making ATHENS as my base, I visited many sites and made day trips to other parts of Attica and the Peloponnese including the charming town of NAFPLIO. This was another memorable trip for me. DUBAI, UAE Dubai was really hot & humid in the summer but it's the Dubai Summer Surprise time SARAWAK, Malaysia It's always great to go home and see family & friends. This time I went home to MIRI and onwards to KUCHING for a few days with mum, including a daytrip to SANTUBONG & the Sarawak Cultural Village RIFT VALLEY, Kenya After my safari trip to the MASAI MARA in 2006, I have always wanted to return to visit the other game parks. So this time, I went to TSAVO WEST and AMBOSELI not just to watch the wildlife but also to experience a balloon ride over Mt Kilimanjaro! KHARTOUM, Sudan It's back to Africa for some business and hanging out with friends again. BRATISLAVA, Slovakia New!A daytrip to the new party central of Europe but no partying for me, just sightseeing VENETO, Italy VENICE, Italy ~ A dream come true as I've always wanted to see the historical sites and canals. Plus, a daytrip to the nearby island of LIDO for a relaxing time away from the crowds AUSTRIAVIENNA has to be one of the most beautiful season. Flowers blooming everywhere and perfect temperature for outdoors. Then, it's a road trip to the south to STYRIA and CARINTHIA for an unforgettable adventure through wine country |
SAIGON, VietnamMy first trip to Ho Chi Minh city or formerly known as Saigon in Jan. The land with so much history but also so much to look forward to. I am truly impressed with my first impression of this place and hope to return again soon AMALFI COAST, ItalyTo usher in the New Year 2007, we headed south to the Amalfi Coast to SORRENTO, Italy. This was a fun trip where we spent ushering the new year drinking champagne & watching fireworks by the shores at the Marina Grande with some friendly Italian people. After that, a drive along the winding roads to AMALFI. This was a memorable daytrip to one of the prettiest resort town I have been to. White houses on dramatic cliffs & of course the breathtaking views of the coast! From humble seaside lifestyle to glamor, I went to CAPRI. This island famous for its rich & glamorous but still has its own village charm when you explore enough. Before heading to Rome, I did some exploring in the ancient city of POMPEIITUSCANY, ItalyTuscany is very beautiful and famous from its fine foods & Chianti. A trip after Christmas 2006 to FLORENCE, Italy to a beautiful city full or art & history. Not to mention the shopping. hehe. I also got a haircut here, no more long hair! Then, it's off to nearby SIENA, Italy ~ Italia's most beautiful city? Perhaps, and I would easily agree. Just 1½ hr from Florence, it's a worthwhile & memorable trip to take. Finally to SAN GIMIGNANO, a Medieval Manhattan! A short excursion to a city surrounded by walls & marked by towers Then it's off to ROME, Italy to begin my Italian holiday. VIENNA, AustriaBack from Italy and stayed a few days here to relax and met some VT members. The weather was strangely "warm" for winter, about 10°C, but I have no complaints

First Winter in Wien Arriving in Vienna on a cold January morning, I was hoping to finally experience my first snowfall. To my dismay, I was told that this had been a mild winter and I may not see a single snowflake. A few days later, for some strange reason, snow began to fall. Well, Vienna is beautiful in the snow and I spent hours walking around the city in -10 deg C weather. Getting dressed for winter is no fun at all though, all the layers & layers of clothes. By the time I'm dressed with my coat, scarf, hat, boots, I feel too tired to go out. Still, I think it's one of the best experiences I've had but doubt I will be repeating in a while :) Well, I shouldn't have spoken too soon because I returned to another winter in Vienna, and will again for Christmas. Haha ... joke's on me :(
