The Vienna Naschmarkt is a great outdoors market. Produce vendors from Austria alongside many from the middle east present their products here. The most fascinating thing about it is: you can find stuff you would not find anywhere else. Great varieties of oils, vinegars, dried fruits and berries........ a great source for gifts (one booth is just dedicated to Sauerkraut). Also between the booths you have great little eateries. Some of them have been transformed into great hang-out spots. People just meet at the Naschmarket for a glass of wine in the afternoon or just for coffee. On Saturdays only one part of the Naschmarkt transforms into THE fleamarket - where you still can get great deals.

I don't think you can get art in a more compressed format. There are at least 6 museums in this complex - seems like the biggest in Europe with great restaurants and bars scattered throughout the space. In summer there are huge blue concrete-looking blocks in the yard, where people just hang out and read or talk....very unique. As far as I remember there the LeopoldMuseum (great collection of Schiele's art works), the Ludwig Museum (contemporary art), KunstHalle (also contemporary art), Electric Avenue (music), a museum for kids and a museum devoted to architecture.
