"Moorish Castle and Palace Perched High Above" Sintra by DSwede

Sintra is one of those necessary tourist traps. The town only takes a couple hours to walk all over it, adding time as needed to visit the museums and palaces. Personally speaking, I think you should go in the castle, and simply walk around the outside of all the other places.

If you have good legs and willing to brave the hills, the castle and Pena Palace can be walked/hiked, but the trails can be long (if you're out of shape) and slippery (when raining). But the views and rewards are worth it.

• Pros:Good landscape photos if the weather cooperates.
• Cons:More hills to walk for those with mobility problems. Be careful when the cobblestones are wet.
• In a nutshell:Get your legs ready for walking steep hills and you'll enjoy the old castle and cozy cobblestone streets.
