Valencia is not as large a tourist destination as Madrid, Barcelona, Pamplona, Toledo or many other cities in Spain. Why?! I don't know! It should be. Valencia is built on the flat plains, surrounded by large expanses of farm lands, many of which flourish with the citrus plants that Valencia is famous for. The city has old history (imagine that... old history in old Europe?!?), but it also has unparalleled modernism at its roots. |
| | Valencia has a huge park that houses the City of Sciences. There's really no way to describe it without simply saying look at all the pictures.
The old river bed is now a long park, with fountains, play grounds and walkways. The river was diverted to further outside the city limits. Serveral proposals of what to do with the old river area were discussed, but I must say that the new parks are fantastic! Somebody obviously made a good decision. |

| | This fountain is an homage to the namesake of the river, and the seven water boys surrounding him are the tributaries that feed it. For more general comments on Spain, visit my Spain page.
