"Gorges du Dadès and the area" El Goumt du Dades by DSwede

El Goumt du Dades Travel Guide: 44 reviews and 191 photos

The "Gorge" itself is not in VT's database, so I've opted to place my page here. The main section of the gorge, on the southern side starts on highway N10, by the cluster of towns, Kelaat M'Gouna, Boumaine Dadès and the water spring Ait Haqi. From there, the gorge goes north, climbs in elevation and continuously gives photographers picturesque views.

The sides of the mountains are steep, rugged and unforgiving. The floor of the long, narrow valley has large pockets of greenery with clustered towns.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:The drive up the Gorge is a photographer's delight.
  • Cons:A cluster of really small towns, none of which have all that much to offer.
  • In a nutshell:Sharp canyon walls, with a long green valley and sporadic towns and ruins of Casbahs
