"Emerald Green Waters and Lazy Days" Angra dos Reis by DSwede

Believe it or not, I was first called down here on business from Niteroi. But I have a couple Brazilian friends who live here, so I've come back down a couple times. There is not much here except for natural beauty, beaches and islands. And of course what you make of your own time.

The city of Angra itself is not very pretty or picturesque. It is a relatively modern city, built around industry and commercialism. But it does offer a good base camp to explore the adjacent islands and coastlines.

• Cons:Transport to here can take a while and it is busy during holidays.
• In a nutshell:Good stopping point for trips to Ihla Grande
