Taroko Gorge Travel Guide: 55 reviews and 119 photos

The Taroko Gorge as the obligatory stop for me along the mountainous east coast. Since other people have done well enough to document the things to do here, I will refrain from writing many tips.

Instead, I welcome you to view my Taiwan page for general thoughts about my trip.

(for more pictures, feel free to visit my Taiwan Gallery. If you enjoy the pictures, please leave a comment.)

I did however take this opportunity to photograph Fred's artwork. I've take his artwork with me a few other places too. Check out Fred (PALS) homepage for more details.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:If you can bear the heat, and in good shape you can walk the entire area in a day.
  • Cons:Slow train or bus is the only way to access Taroko.
  • In a nutshell:Get your legs ready for walking hills and you'll enjoy the cliffs and side hikes.

Great to hear that there are bike rentals now. It's definitely a great way to see the gorge slowly. We walked for hours along the road...
