Budget stay near center and other Gwangju, South Korea Hotel/Accommodation Reviews

The California Hotel is a basic Korean style "Love Motel". The amenities are decent and the beds among the more comfortable for the love motels.

The location (particularly for night owls) is the key decision in choosing this motel. It is only a ~3 minute walk from Dave & Mikes Speakeasy, as well as all the other nightlife spots in the old downtown area.

The sign is only in Korean from the street until you walk down the small street corridor to the door to see California spelled something like "Caelifornea Hotel".

Unique Qualities: The hotel is decent enough, but I recommend it to either ex-pats living in Korea, or budget backpackers as an alternative to a hostel. Room was 25000 KRW / night.

Directions: Down the small street opposite the "Grand Hotel" in Shinaye. At the first intersection, look for a small red circular sign with "Motel" (written in Korean).
