"Moab without tourists" Moab by pagodas

Easy airport to get in and out of. Rented an Impala from Dan at Alamo. He was very friendly and told us where to shop for food, as well as some great places to eat in SLC. We ate at the Red Iguana which is right on Temple Street, only a mile from the airport. Great Mexican food and beer.
The best way to avoid tourists & lemmings is to get out of town quickly. We rented a jeep from Moab Aventure Center. Full day in a 2008 Jeep for $135. They give you a nice map of where to go...and you're off. It's an all-day affair so bring sunscreen, munchies, water, etc. Crank up the tunes and go!
Once you're away from the "sites" you'll meet non-lemmings. While visiting the Gemini Bridges we met the Moto-cross rider from Vancouver Island. He was out with his wife and little kids in a jeep. Nicest people ever!
- Pros:Great place. I'll be back
- Cons:Gawkers on the main street, so you gotta watch the crosswalks for lemmings.
- In a nutshell:Recreation of every kind--not just bicycles.
