I think if I were to visit Florida for the first time the Cocoa Beach area would be the area to visit.. The beaches are great , I do recommend spending a few extra follars and get a motel on the beach though... and the fact that the Kennedy space center is so close... If you time it right you can watch a blast off from anywhere in the area.. and it's quite spectacular..from the beach would be a great vantage point .. Cocoa Beach is a bit touristy but not too bad..Visit the famous Ron Jon's surf Shop..and of course Cape Kennedy space Center..To be honest I enjoyed Cape Kennedy more than just about any amusement park I have ever been...maybe it's my age...But it's not quite as expensive as the other Florida Parks and I think it is more enriching..I think this is called Florida's Gold Coast.. It doesn't get enough recognition...I've lived in Florida virtually all of my adult life and I have been just about everywhere in Florida.. But for some reason the Cocoa Beach area is my favorite family vacation spot..

I wish I could remember this astronauts name.. . He gave a very interesting talk about how the U.S. was working along side the Russian space program and how many of the astronauts spend almost as much time there training as they do here..
