In many areas of Dublin you can find Georgian houses with doors of different colours (yellow, blue, red, etc). Postcards show this as a typical image of Dublin.

I would say that pubs are the most popular 'attraction' in Dublin. You will really enjoy going from pub to pub, where you often have the opportunity to attend live concerts of Irish music. Most of the times these concerts are free, but it can happen that you have to pay 5 or 10 Euros for the concert specially at nights. We had a couple of beers at The Temple Bar and Oliver St. John Gogarty while we were listening to Irish live music for free.

The admission fee is not cheap (14€/ adult), but I think it the visit is worthwile. The premises are huge and the brewery open to the public has several floors, along which you learn a lot about the beer production and all what relates to the 'Guiness World' (advertising, presence, Guiness book, etc..). At the top of the building there is a circular bar where you can drink a Guiness or soft drink (included in the admission fee) and enjoy the great views of the city.

BillNJ Mon Jul 28, 2008 09:48 UTC Great tips and photos. I hope to visit Dublin sometime in the next year. I especially like your hotel tip because I hope to stay someplace that serves a traditional Irish breakfast. Cheers from New Jersey, Bill |
