Oita-ken is located on the north-eastern coast of the island of Kyushu. Surrounded by the Suo Channel and Honsyu Island to the north, the Iyo Channel and Shikoku Island to the east, it is bordered by Miyazaki-ken to the south, and Fukuoka-ken and Kumamoto-ken to the west.

Oita-ken is almost entirely covered by mountains and has only narrow coastal plains.

    Excellent presentation from a waterfall, castles, tunnel, museum, cycling course to [and new to me] a truck train and a foot bath, I thoroughly enjoyed this page.

    I really love the japanese castles and I think this year I might go and see Nakatsu & Kitsuki Castle since I'm in this area! Great page as usuall! :))
