Shwedagon - "Golden Mystery" Yangon was a bit of a venture into the unknown for us. We did have an interesting couple of days here - and things definitely looked up when we were able to replace our Lonely Planet, which somehow disappeared. This was not an easy task.
Airport customs. clinically clean, customs was easy, but we will not let them take the piece of paper saying you can leave at Tachileik next time.
Next little strange site was the phones on tables in the street, which seems to be a big business there. There is no mobile network, and obviously few home phones.
The vehicles were a sight to behold! All at least 1,000,000 miles old!
The markets where great and the sights and sounds of the afternoon market in Chinatown was wonderful. |

About the money, there are NO ATM's at all in Burma. But you can get a cash asvance on a credit card for 7.3%. |
