    • Name of Shop: Chatuchak Weekend Market

    I promise you it is at least 10 square miles if not more of vendor stalls selling everything from designer clothes, purses, jewelry to chickens, furniture, books, food and etc. Words cannot describe this shopping haven. Any and every thing you could EVER want. There are books and maps dedicated to this thing. Get the "Nancy Chandler" Map for Bangkok and it has a map for this weekend market. You honestly need a compass to keep from getting lost. It would take weeks to cover the whole thing.

    What To Buy: You will not find upscale shopping such as nice silks but they have almost everything else.

    What To Pay: Always bargain. If it is 100 Baht; say 50 or 60, then meet somewhere in between.

    This blows Patpong away! Picture a "clean" market with beer gardens intermingled. Oh my! Nirvana! We had a memorable dinner at the Puppet Theater in the midst of the madness. Locals shop here so that's a good sign.
