I grew up in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia on the Aramco compound so that makes me an AramcoBrat. Kind of like being an Army Brat and an experience that enriched me more than any other event or events. Living on the compound is like a blend between an Arabian village and a small midwest American town.

Growing up overseas enabled me to enjoy numerous trips traveling with my parents, by myself and with my wife. I've been lucky enough to visit over 35 countries and over 5 continents. (Haven't been to Antarctica yet - too cold). Although we lived in Saudi Arabia we always took many trips back to the States, stopping in Europe or Asia, on the way home. Growing up here in Arabia is like being on a permanent trip sometimes ;) Still you make your home where you live and while not traditional it has its benefits. There are not that many other places you can walk out your backyard in shorts in December and gaze up at a palm tree are there?

Over here you try and make your home as pleasant as possible. You spends lots of time entertaining in your homes so you need entertainment areas outside and inside. Believe it or not it the weather over here is great. Sure its hot in the summers but when the sun goes down it is nice outside. There are a few humid weeks but it still not as bad as say Bangkok.

This is the front of our house. This is considered an adobe style house. We have a one story floor plan but a 2 story is also available. We live in Dhahran Hills. The frangipani trees outside are great when in bloom.
