Fishing | 15kg black bass, and a 25kg yellow catfish |
If you love to fish, than i know of a great place, in the remote areas of papua new guinea. In this area it is possible to catch Barramundi, Black bass, sharks stingrays, salmon and much more. The area comsists of intertidal mangrove and nipa palm swamplands, as well as mountain strams, and not to forget easy access to the ocean through the many river mouths. Flyfish can be done in the mountain streams, but the best fishing is done in the flood planis of the kikori basin where you can cantch black bass, and catfish upto 2 meters long. If you have your own gear, i can organise the travel requirements, and accomodation, so that you can get to this remote area. Feel free to email me, about any information about the gulf Province of Papua New Guinea. There is not much known about the area, and i consider myself something of an expert.

| | People and Culture The people in the gulf province of Papua New Guinea, were discovered to white people, and christianity in the 1900. It is hard to believe, but befor this time little if nothing was known about the culture of the people in the area. It is true that the tribes in the area were canibals and headhunters, and no vesel dared venture too far up the rivers of the kikori delta. There are many a story of the early misionary's trying in vain to bring christianity to the area. It wasnt until 1930, that churches began popping up in the remote villages. Because the only form of travel is by dugout canoe, and it is virtually impossible to build roads in the swamp land, the area has remained untouched, and unknown to the tourist market. Spirits and superstition still run rife, and many a story can be told by village elders of the old time when there gods ruled.
