The Natural History Museums - Oslo
The Natural History Museums Zoologisk Museet Review

The Natural History Museums and Botanical Garden.
The Zoological Museum is my favourite: The Norwegian Hall shows the animal life of Norway, the Spitsbergen Hall shows scenes from arctic animal life and in the Systematic Hall there is a display of Norways animals. The Botanical Garden is absorbing.

Directions: Sars Gate 1
(Tøyen, not far from the Munch Museum)

Hadeland glassverk - Oslo
Hadeland glassverk

Hadeland glassverk is the most famous Norwegian glass factory, located just 20 min. outside of Oslo. Glassblowers practice their old tradition and use the same tools as in the 18th century. You can even try yourself. This place is definitely worth a visit.

Address: By train from Oslo to Jevnaker (20 min).

Akershus Akershus Fortress Review

Akershus fortress and castle (Akershus festning og slott).
Built by King Hakon V háleggr (longlegs) in the 1300s, this fortress and castle overlooking the city centre is one of the best-preserved medieval buildings of this type in Europe. The castle has been used as a palace, and was extensively restored in order to play that role. In more recent times, the castle was the Nazi HQ during the Second World War. Today it's the site of Norway's Resistance Museum, The Armed Forces Museum, and The Prison Museum.

The Kon-Tiki Museum - Oslo
The Kon-Tiki Museum Kon Tiki Museum Review

The great explorer and anthropologist Thor Heyerdahl built the balsa raft called Kon Tiki in 1947 to sail from Peru to Polynesia and thus proved that the Indians could emigrate to these islands. He completed the journey with his crew in 101 days. The raft is now in the Kon Tiki Museum. The museum also houses the papyrus boat named RA2. In 1970 Thor Heyerdahl crossed the Atlantic from Morocco to Barbados in this boat to prove that it was possible for the Egyptians to travel to America 4000 years ago.

Holmenkollen Holmenkollen Review

Holmenkollen Ski Jump has been the centre of Norwegian ski sport for the last 100 years. If you walk the stairs all the way to the top you can enjoy a panorama view of the city from there. Inside the ski jump is an interesting ski museum.
