" Greifenstein Castle" Greifenstein by Kuznetsov_Sergey
Greifenstein Travel Guide: 5 reviews and 32 photos
Not far from Heiligenstadt and visible from afar, there is the castle of Greifenstein. The 12th - Century built castle was destroyed during the Peasants' wars and only in the 17th Century it was rebuilt in Baroque style as a hunting lodge.
The Counts Schenk von Stauffenberg still live at Greifenstein Castle and in the palatial estate of Burggrub.
Franz Schenk von Stauffenberg was a good friend of King Ludwig II. The castle was modernized according to his wishes. No wonder that he called it "Little Neuschwanstein”.
You can watch my 3 min 31 sec HD Video Bavaria Oberfranken Way from Heiligenstadt to Greifenstein

Beautiful castle and landscape :-) And inspiring Bavarian music .-)
Sergey, lovely little page about this well known castle of Greifenstein. I must admit that I haven't been to this area of Germany yet.
The castle and garden of Greifenstein looks very nice to visit!
Fine photos in your tips and travelogue! I've never been to Greifenstein, but I know the general area (Bamberg, Erlangen, ...)
a lovely castle in the great landscape of Fränkische Schweiz ! Only the REAL Switzerland can be better, I agree with Sonja about that ! ;-)
Nice place you visited, but you'd better come to the real Switzerland ;)
interesting place, pity it was forbidden to make shots inside... the views from the castle are really overwhelming!
Hello, Sergey! I see it's a great place to visit! ><><><><><~ Thanx for sharing! ~
