Ryazan' Travel Guide: 57 reviews and 261 photos

Ryazan is a city in the Central Federal District of Russia and the administrative center of Ryazan Oblast.
Ryazan was the first Russian city to be sacked by the Mongol horde of Batu Khan.
It was thoroughly devastated and never fully recovered. As result of the sack, the seat of the principality was moved about 55 km to the town of Pereslavl-Ryazansky, which subsequently took the name of the destroyed capital.
The site of the old capital now carries the name of Staraya Ryazan (Old Ryazan), close to Spassk-Ryazanskiy.

Great Ryazan' travel page! The city seems to us a great tourist destination with lots of wonderful architectural buildings. Ryazan Kremlin certainly looks amazing and so are the Cathedral of the Assumption and the Church of the Epiphany. ~ho & pang

Nice page! Funny, but we had nearly been to Ryazan in early November (unfortunately Andrey got ill). And we had reservation just in Konushenny Dvor. They really were very nice, even when we didn't come. Greetings, Irina

The architecture is so wonderful there-as you stated, and also the videos you took of the museums and Kremlin were fantastic. Well done again.

Sergey, another outstanding page of yours. With about 4 hours by train from Moscow it seems to be to far a away for a daytrip from the Russian capital.
